Easy Baked Mac and Cheese (No Roux Needed)

This creamy baked mac and cheese skips the stovetop hassle and delivers big comfort with minimal prep. It’s a hit at parties, potlucks, and casual events.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb elbow macaroni

  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 cups whole milk

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional: ½ cup panko breadcrumbs + 2 tbsp butter (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 baking dish.

  2. Cook Pasta until just under al dente. Drain and pour into the dish.

  3. Add Cheese & Liquid: Pour in milk, cream, garlic powder, salt, and half the cheese. Mix to combine.

  4. Top & Bake: Sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Add buttered breadcrumbs if using.

  5. Bake Uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
