Easy Oven-Baked Ribs Recipe (Fall-Off-the-Bone Tender)

If you want tender, flavorful ribs without needing a grill or smoker, this easy oven-baked recipe is your new go-to. Great for family meals, weekend cookouts, or adding to a catering menu!

Ingredients

  • 2 full racks of pork baby back ribs (about 4–5 lbs total)

  • ¼ cup yellow mustard

  • Your favorite dry rub (store-bought or homemade – see below)

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (more for serving)

  • Heavy-duty aluminum foil

Optional Homemade Dry Rub:

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp chili powder

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil.

2. Prep the Ribs

Remove the thin membrane on the back of each rib rack. Rub both sides lightly with mustard—this helps the seasoning stick and keeps the meat moist.

3. Season Generously

Coat the ribs with your dry rub, pressing it into the meat. Be generous!

4. Wrap and Bake

Place each rack on foil, meat-side up, and wrap tightly. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the meat is very tender and nearly falling off the bone.

5. Sauce and Finish

Carefully unwrap the ribs. Brush with BBQ sauce and return to the oven, uncovered, at 400°F for 10–15 minutes to caramelize.

6. Slice and Serve

Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve with extra sauce on the side.

Serving Tips

  • Pair with baked mac, coleslaw, or roasted corn

  • Use leftovers for sandwiches or tacos

  • Works great for meal prep—ribs reheat well!
